THE OPPORTUNITY

Salary: $142,002 per annum pro rata + 11% super + annual leave loading (dependant on qualifications and experience).
Time Fraction: Full Time, 1.0 EFT   
Location: Moorabbin & Bourke Street campuses
WWCC: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining and maintaining an ‘employee’ Working with Children Check
Police Check: Appointment to this position is dependent on obtaining a Police Check
Position Status: Ongoing contract of employment, with a 6-month qualifying period.

The Faculty of Health Science, Community and Social Studies provides a progressive, innovative, and supportive teaching environment with strong industry links. We are in search of an exceptional individual to take on the role of Head of School – Vocational Education  & Training Nursing Programs, providing both educational and strategic leadership.

You will identify innovative delivery modes for VET nursing and health programs, foster collaborations and partnerships with industry stakeholders, and drive student recruitment strategies. Your responsibilities will also include managing compliance with ASQA standards, Training Package qualifications, and funding agreements.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a deep understanding of the nursing and health sector, including current and future trends, as well as of the vocational education and training landscape. In addition, the ideal candidate will have a strong and proven experience in leadership and management of people, students and resources.

ABOUT YOU

  • Possession of a nursing degree or equivalent, along with current nursing registration (AHPRA) and recognised adult teaching qualification.
  • Experienced educational professional and leader with high level theoretical, educational, and operational knowledge necessary to support business objectives.
  • Experienced leader/manager of staff, students and physical resources.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of the nursing and health sector, including current and future trends.
  • Comprehensive understanding of current issues in the VET sector and application of the legal and regulatory requirements of the VET environment.
  • Proven ability to provide strategic direction and vision for VET programs and initiatives, aligning them with broader institutional goals.
  • Understanding training packages to align with industry standards/educational goals, while employing diverse teaching strategies, including simulations, to meet student needs.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills as well as networking and stakeholder management abilities.
